My Neighborhood

Abby Zimet

The award-winning film My Neighborhood tells the story of 11-year-old Mohammed El Kurd, a Palestinian youth who lives with his family in the East Jerusalem area of Sheikh Jarrah - until Israeli settlers take over part of his home. A production of Just Vision, a team of Palestinian, Israeli and American filmmakers/advocates, and a testament to the power of supposedly warring  sides working together to right wrongs, the film documents the growing protests of Palestinians to their eviction joined, much to their surprise, by Israeli activists. Inspiring. You can watch the whole film here.

FRIENDS: Now More Than Ever

Independent journalism has become the last firewall against government and corporate lies. Yet, with frightening regularity, independent media sources are losing funding, closing down or being blacked out by Google and Facebook. Never before has independent media been more endangered. If you believe in Common Dreams, if you believe in people-powered independent media, please support us now and help us fight—with truths—against the lies that would smother our democracy. Please help keep Common Dreams alive and growing. Thank you. -- Craig Brown, Co-founder
