Hard times for white people. First, Sebastien De La Cruz, an adorable, talented 11-year-old Mexican-American born and raised in San Antonio sang, and nailed, the national anthem at the NBA Finals, garnering much online racist idiocy - sample: "This lil Mexican snuck in the country like 4 hours ago now he singing the anthem" - but even more acclaim, and an encore. Then a well-spoken, cap-and-gown-wearing group of undocumented young activists turned up during visiting hours at the Capitol Hill office of quintessential anti-immigration white guy Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) to protest his desire to send all brown-skinned people back where they came from, even if it happens to be San Antonio, and to explain their own desire for a good education and better life, just like his, thanks - to which he responded with the panicked, doubtless soon-to-be classic Tweet: "20 brazen self professed illegal aliens have just invaded my DC office." All this, on a day when the US Census Bureau released a report showing that next year whites will become a minority in the under-5 group for the first time ever. Welcome to the new world.
"But something is happening here
And you don't know what it is
Do you, Mister Jones?"
Here's Sebastien killin' his song:
