Deported/ Unconscious


Under the little-known, euphemistically named practice of "medical repatriation," an estimated 600 immigrants lacking papers have been deported as (often unconscious) patients by hospitals seeking to avoid the costs of their care - thus, in one case, taking comatose accident victims from their hospital beds in Iowa and flying them to Mexico, where they woke up.
