Local lawmakers, residents, gun-control advocates and anyone else with a brain and heart are blasting the NRA for responding to Connecticut moves to prevent gun violence by blanketing Newtown with lurid robocalls and postcards decrying attempts to "inhibit your inherent right to self- defense." The famed, sonorous, McCarthy-era testimony by an outraged Joseph Welch comes to mind: "Have you no sense of decency, sir? At long last, have you left no sense of decency?"
