Shockingly, or not, even as grieving parents in Sandy Hook prepare to bury their children, hate-mongering right-wingers continue to spout their idiotic venom. Bryan Fischer of the American Family (sic) Association charge the carnage was the result of the ban on school prayer - something along the lines of how God is "a gentleman" and doesn't go where He (sic) isn't wanted - Mike Huckabee blames liberal godlessness, smart phones and gay marriage, and the Tea Party Nation blames pot, sex, no spanking, foul-mouthed teens, black people and the movie Django Unchained. The final insult to decency and coherence came from the demented Westboro/Phelps clan, who announced via hashtags like #GodSentTheShooter and #FagMarriageDoomsCT that they would picket funerals in Newtown "to sing praise to God for the glory of his work in executing his judgment." R-i-g-h-t. Refreshingly, people have fought back. Westboro's Twitter accounts were flooded with furious, dismissive, profane and witty responses; Anonymous promptly launched #OpWestboro and posted the group's personal contact info, someone - allegedly renowned teen hacker Cosmo the God, who thus appears to have violated his parole - hacked Phelps' Twitter account, and a We the People petition to label Westboro a hate group has amassed almost 160,000 signatures in two days. They needed just 25,000 to proceed. Online, no more Mr/Ms Nice Guy.
"If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give away all I have, and if I deliver up my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing."
