It's Always Something: The Name on the Door
Arguing they want to avoid "confusion" among younger patients who don't know her name, a Wisconsin branch of the cancer support network Gilda's Club is removing the name of the iconic Gilda Radner, original SNL cast member and one of the first celebrities to make public her fight with cancer. Radner died of ovarian cancer in 1989. The change has sparked online outrage - “Breaking: All people who died before the 'Twilight' movies never existed - let's all rewrite history now” - among fans who argue it dishonors Radner's legacy and courage. Too bad: Roseanne Roseannadanna would have a mouthful. "It's always something - if it ain't one thing, it's another."

Calling the House "an outpost (for) the priorities of the American people" in an otherwise Marxist mess of a government, John Boehner has appointed 19 white guys to chair 19 committees. Not just any white guys: Many are rabid right-wingers on their respective issues. So a Koch-and-oil-funded climate change skeptic will head Science, Space and Technology, a Wall Street tool to whom Medicaid and Medicare are "cruel Ponzi schemes" will head Financial Services, an Islamaphobe and xenophobe will head Foreign Affairs, etc. Have any of these people heard change happens?

We Are Not A Relic, A Trend, A Costume or A Mascot
What's wrong with this picture, and why couldn't Victoria's Secret have figured it out before, not after, they paraded it down the runway for their annual fashion show - to much subsequent outrage? FYI: No warbonnets in next week's TV broadcast. Better late than never, maybe? But sheesh. "We are human beings and, despite all odds, we have survived."
