We Are Good Citizens

Three workers were arrested last week for blocking trucks hauling away the plant's equipment.

Six more protesters were arrested at the Bain-owned Sensata plant in Freeport, Ill. for sitting in and demanding a full severance package for the 170 workers who will lose their jobs as early as Friday when the plant's operations are outsourced to China. The protesters, some of whom said they were "scared to death" being in a police car, said they'd do it again. Good folks. In video of the arrests, the police arrive around the 20-minute mark.

FRIENDS: Help Us Fight

Independent journalism has become the last firewall against government and corporate lies. Yet, with frightening regularity, independent media sources are losing funding, closing down or being blacked out by Google and Facebook. Never before has independent media been more endangered. If you believe in Common Dreams, if you believe in people-powered independent media, please support us now and help us fight—with truths—against the lies that would smother our democracy. Please help keep Common Dreams alive and growing. Thank you. -- Craig Brown, Co-founder
