A whistleblowing former military doctor in Afghanistan says the Pentagon withheld key documents during last week's Congressional testimony about gruesome “Auschwitz-like” conditions facing Afghan patients, as well as widespread bribery and corruption, in the U.S.- funded Dawood Hospital in Kabul. The probe has also revealed that Lt. General William Caldwell, then commander of the $11.2 billion-a-year program, tried to cover up those abuses. Colonel Schulyer Geller says the Department of Defense "excluded the vast majority of documents from the get-go," thus following a pattern of Pentagon obstruction. Photos of conditions were collected by U.S. military personnel in Afghanistan and published by Buzzfeed. Warning: very graphic. Debacle of a war.
