OxyContin For Kids: What Could Possibly Go Wrong?
Just as Glaxo agreed to pay the largest drug fraud fines ever for illegally marketing anti-depressants - and as further proof Big Pharma will do anything to make a buck - comes news that Purdue hopes to get six more months of patent protection for its wildly profitable and addictive painkiller OxyContin - second cousin to morphine - by trying it out on kids as young as six. Purdue, which already paid millions in fines for downplaying Oxy's addictiveness, says it's doing the trials so doctors "can make better decisions about the care of their patients.” They also have a bridge to sell you.
