Two Dudes Try To Kiss Away the Hateful and Stupid at Santorum Rally. They Fail But Have Fun Anyway.

A video of two young guys defiantly, gleefully kissing at - and ejected from - a rally for Rick Santorum at Illinois' Christian Liberty (sic) Academy has gone viral, evidently and justifiably for the brave spectacle of it all. Far more shocking than that playful kiss to those of us apparently insulated from the truly vicious reality of Santorum, though, is the sound of the crowd booing, jeering and finally, bafflingly, mindlessly chanting "U-S-A!!!!" as Santorum sneers about health care, unemployment insurance, "benefits," and "smart people" - that is, anyone who believes that one fundamentally decent and democratic role of government is to take care of its own. The two men, Timothy Tross and Ben Clifford, haven't said if they're gay. They stress the issue is Santorum's hateful politics. What to do with and about all these people who subscribe to them? This video hurts my stomach.

The kiss:

The rest of Santorum's speech, if you can stand it.
