Soccer At Gitmo. Really.

Abby Zimet

The U.S. military is giving Guantanamo a new $744,000 soccer field, which has Fox News outraged those big-spending liberals are turning it into "a country club" where perennially shackled, occasionally tortured, mostly innocent detainees with no fundamental human or legal rights will be "getting their kicks at your expense." We, on the other hand, are outraged that Obama is giving them, not freedom or at least due process like he promised, but soccer. We can add the cost of the field to about $800,000 a year per detainee in basic operating costs and at least $500 million in renovations. Moral cost: Priceless.
