Stephen Colbert is zeroing in on South Carolina now that Mitt "Tone Deaf" Romney has admitted paying just 15% of his $250 million in taxes and laughingly dismissed his $362,000 in speaking fees as "not very much." In his first two ads, Colbert has accused Romney of being a serial killer, aka Mitt the Ripper, for killing off corporations (who are “people, my friend”) and urged primary voters to vote for Herman Cain, who's "such a Washington outsider, he’s not even running." Priceless. Bonus Video: A giggling Colbert and Stewart gleefully not coordinating on their Super PAC.

FRIENDS: Help Us Fight

Independent journalism has become the last firewall against government and corporate lies. Yet, with frightening regularity, independent media sources are losing funding, closing down or being blacked out by Google and Facebook. Never before has independent media been more endangered. If you believe in Common Dreams, if you believe in people-powered independent media, please support us now and help us fight—with truths—against the lies that would smother our democracy. Please help keep Common Dreams alive and growing. Thank you. -- Craig Brown, Co-founder
