Taking Unhate Too Far
They wanted attention, and they got it. In one day, the Italian clothes horse Benetton launched its Unhate ad campaign, featuring hostile world leaders smooching; offended the Vatican with a shot of the pope kissing an Egyptian imam and, backing down, removed it. Benetton says the purpose of the campaign is "to battle the culture of hate in all its forms." And, presumably, sell some stuff.

New York videographer, activist and veteran Joey Boots was filming down at Zuccotti Park when this stone-faced Brookfield Properties thug - evidently unfamiliar with the concept of "film" ie: documenting - chose to enliven the conversation with an epithet. Now a lot of people are looking to I.D. - ie: fire - the guy.

Pizza As Vegetable, and Bring On the Sodium
Showing their usual acumen, House Republicans are fighting new nutrition guidelines for school lunches, arguing the smidgen of tomato paste on pizza counts as a vegetable and bucketloads of fries and salt are just fine for our nation's youth, even if obesity did cost the nation $147 billion last year. Coincidentally, the changes were requested by the frozen pizza, salt and potato industries.
