Cheering Death, Booing Compassion: What Freedom's All About

Low point of the CNN/Tea Party debate has to be when the GOP audience cheered and screamed "Yeah!" when crank Ron Paul suggested letting the uninsured die because "that's what freedom's all about." Runner-up: When they booed him for suggesting not all Muslims are terrorists and 9/11 might actually sort of have something to do with U.S. actions. This and the last debate's cheering of Texas' body count makes us hurt. And leaves us  speechless, except for asking an absurdly inadequate question: Who are these people?

 

Cheering letting a hypothetical young man die who doesn't have insurance:

Booing the notions that all Muslims aren't terrorists, they're angry about things the U.S. has done, and Palestinians don’t get “fair treatment.”

The debate in 75 seconds, which is more than it deserves:

This is the world we live in. This is the world we cover.
