Texans Have No Food, Health Care or Services, But A Few Guys Are Doing Swell

Abby Zimet

The real miracle in Rick Perry's Texas is that so little attention has been paid to the true state of affairs there. To wit: It has the country's second highest rate of "food insecurity" - on the rise there while nationwide it's holding steady. It has the country's highest rate of uninsured people and a health care system that is withering. It just passed the "leanest and cruelest budget" - including massive cuts in schools and vital services - in the history of a state that spends less per resident than any other state in the country. Meanwhile, a handful of Perry cronies and contributors are raking it in. And that's all before God, treason and Ponzi schemes enter the conversation.
