Dear Barack,

It's low, we know: It's the guy's birthday and all. Still, any adult can tell you that life is often unfair. So forthwith, a heartfelt Dear Barack letter from the Rude Pundit, who felt he worked hard on their relationship but now feels "bitter and angry and more than a little foolish." Love hurts.

"I got into this relationship without any illusions about who you were. I got together with you because I believed in us. You and me...Even now, you're still making promises, as if you still believe they can come true. They can't. Not unless you change. Not unless you're willing to fight for us. But I don't think you can. I don't think that's who you are."

This is the world we live in. This is the world we cover.

Because of people like you, another world is possible. There are many battles to be won, but we will battle them together—all of us. Common Dreams is not your normal news site. We don't survive on clicks. We don't want advertising dollars. We want the world to be a better place. But we can't do it alone. It doesn't work that way. We need you. If you can help today—because every gift of every size matters—please do. Without Your Support We Simply Don't Exist.
