Because they have nothing else they should be doing and they are not the brightest bulbs in the House, Republicans are working to repeal a 2007 light bulb efficiency law requiring traditional incandescent bulbs to be more energy efficient by 2012. The move isn't just stupid; it's based on one whopping red herring of a lie.

"It was never my goal for Washington to decide what type of light bulbs Americans should use... I will vote yes on a bill to protect consumer choice and guard against federal overreach.” - House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Fred Upton (R-Mich.)
