Ohio Republicans have decided we need more guns - not just in parks, schools, churches but in bars, which are so conducive to calm sober discussion on the issues of the day. They have so voted even though police, many NRA folks and bar owners - what one NRA member calls "the guys with the baseball bats behind the bars with the sheriff on speed dial" - think this is a bad idea. So do most Ohioans and mayors. Ohio will now join four other states in passing really stupid laws on guns. “People drinking and guns don’t mix.” - a bar owner.

In Libya, Sleep-Walking Their Way To Day 60
Friday marks 60 days since Obama announced "a limited military action" in Libya, thus ending its supposed legality under the War Powers Act. Despite the lack of any progress, the former lawyer has made no move to end or make legal what Robert Gates has called "a limited kinetic action" - though he concedes it probably feels like "war" to Libyans. The words that matter: The air strikes are killing civilians, with no legal or moral mandate - or end - in view.
