South Dakota Logic: Guns = Health Insurance

by
Abby Zimet

A brilliant group of GOP lawmakers in South Dakota are protesting health care reform with a bill requiring everyone in the state to buy a gun "sufficient to provide
for their ordinary self-defense." See, they're saying making us buy health insurance is like making us buy a gun. Ha ha ha. So clever. And productive. Remember: We're paying them.

The act is "an individual mandate to
adult citizens to provide for the self defense of themselves and
others."
