GOP On The Constitution: Just Not That Into You

Abby Zimet

What's In A Name Dept: Republicans love the Constitution. We know thanks
to that pointless stunt last week wherein they spent $1.1 million of
our money to read it in the House. Still, there's this pesky little
problem of fundamental rights and liberties as cited in that august
document. Wait! We know! Let's take them out! So it is that the
Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights,
and Civil Liberties will now be known as the Constitution Subcommittee. Wow. That was easy.

This is the world we live in. This is the world we cover.

Because of people like you, another world is possible. There are many battles to be won, but we will battle them together—all of us. Common Dreams is not your normal news site. We don't survive on clicks. We don't want advertising dollars. We want the world to be a better place. But we can't do it alone. It doesn't work that way. We need you. If you can help today—because every gift of every size matters—please do.
