A Tremendous Blossoming

Guess who's coming to power? A profile of
GOP Texan Ralph Hall, the incoming chair of the House Science and
Technology, cites his pro-oil agenda, zeal for the "holy grail" of oil
that is the Arctic Wildlife Refuge, plan to hold hearings on the
"uncertainties" of global warming science, and warped enthusiasm for the
BP oil spill. The Times has a new, in-depth, somewhat different report
and photos on the final hours of the Deepwater Horizon. They describe
the  firestorm, searing heat, smoking wreckage and "dazed and battered
survivors." The reality.

"As
we saw that thing bubbling out, blossoming out - all that energy, every
minute of every hour of every day of every week - that was tremendous
to me. That we could deliver that kind of energy out there -
even on an explosion." – Ralph Hall
