To A Socialist Thanksgiving

Abby Zimet

Happy Thanksgiving. In memory of my mother, who always loved it, I turned on the Macy's parade just in time to see Arlo Guthrie singing "This Land Is Your Land" – and then getting cut off mid-soulful-note for Kermit, then Ronald MacDonald, then endless blathering heads. So it goes. With hard times all around, give thanks where we can; work to better the rest. For most of us, the common good remains the golden rule. Then there's Fox News: See them explain how socialists almost ruined Thanksgiving. Peace.
