Scared Yet? We Are

U.S. FDA officials have unveiled 36 potential images, many of them
gruesome, to go on cigarette packages in accordance with a new law requiring all such lethal packs to bear anti-smoking messages. Dead bodies, ruined mouths, sick babies: you name it, we got it. Check them out if you're considering taking up or continuing this  fatal, stinky, expensive and repellant habit. Tell my son, too.

"When the rule
takes effect, the health consequences of smoking will be obvious every
time someone picks up a pack of cigarettes." - U.S. Food and Drug
Administration Commissioner Dr. Margaret A. Hamburg.

We know things are bad. We know it's worth the fight.

You are part of a strong and vibrant community of thinkers and doers who believe another world is possible. Alone we are weak. Together we can make a difference. At Common Dreams, we don't look away from the world—we are not afraid—our mission is to document those doing wrong and galvanize those doing good. But we can't do it alone. It doesn't work that way. We need you. We have now launched our annual Summer Campaign. Can you pitch in today?
