A Mississippi judge has apparently decided the First Amendment is all
well and good, except in his courtroom, where he sent a recalcitrant
lawyer to jail for declining
to recite the Pledge of Allegiance. Judge Talmadge Littlejohn ordered
attorney Danny Lampley, who in the '90s worked with the ACLU on a school
prayer case, to "purge himself of said criminal contempt" after Lampley
stood but remained silent for the pledge.
