Health and Sickness, Truly

Abby Zimet

Marking the six-month anniversary of health care reform, the White House has launched a new website to
explain what it does (and doesn't) do. Ditto for a nice live cartoon
from the Kaiser Family Foundation. At the same time, several big,
ever-noble insurance companies have announced
they will no longer cover children because the new law won't let them
turn away sick ones - ie: they can no longer deny coverage to kids with
"pre-existing conditions." Remarkably, they have now topped even
themselves in the slime-o-meter.

This is the world we live in. This is the world we cover.

Because of people like you, another world is possible. There are many battles to be won, but we will battle them together—all of us. Common Dreams is not your normal news site. We don't survive on clicks. We don't want advertising dollars. We want the world to be a better place. But we can't do it alone. It doesn't work that way. We need you. If you can help today—because every gift of every size matters—please do.
