The not wholly surprising news that a key Karzai aide at the center of a corruption investigation has been on the CIA payroll
for years underscores, once more if we needed it, the tortuously
contradictory mess that is U.S. policy in Afghanistan - for starters,
simultaneously demanding Karzai root out corruption while funding it.
