Low, Lower, Lowest

Abby Zimet

The companies with all that oil, grief, death and environmental
destruction on their hands - BP, Transocean, Halliburton - are all
rushing in to do the right thing, and claim moral and financial
responsibility for the havoc they've wreaked. Ha ha. Just kidding.
Actually those companies are waging a fierce battle to AVOID doing those
things, each claiming the other responsible. Almost 250 lawsuits have been filed against Transocean, which says its contract with BP protects it from any damages, which has made its stock prices happily rise,
which has made BP say no way they're paying for that sucker - to wit,
"The facts are not sufficiently developed to determine who is
responsible." Man, these guys all deserve each other, and the Gulf
Coast, its afflicted population both human and animal, and the rest of
us all deserve better.
