Adults Required

Geez, what a shocker: BP isn't being upfront about its cleanup
efforts. In the 77 days since it began wreaking havoc in the Gulf, BP
has recovered about 60% of the amount of oil it
told the Feds it could remove in a single day. These guys are the
grievous gift that just keeps giving. A cogent argument for seizing
their assets here. A petition to do so here.

"The president's
argument that BP is better alive than dead is a canard of the first
order. Most of the same people would just keep working, but with adult
supervision. We U.S. taxpayers would keep the profit to settle claims,
and slowly but surely we would sell off the assets over time...The
fact that someone besides BP has a right to those assets is pretty
clear."
