Borderline Reasoning

Obama's decision to send 1,200 guys to "secure" the essentially
endless 2,000-mile U.S.-Mexico border is a puzzle. Is it, like some
hopeful commentators suggest, a clever first step to the comprehensive
immigration reform virtually everyone agrees is needed? Other options:
It's a. abandoning a real solution for a pointless quick fix, b. caving
to the current brown-skinned-people-hysteria, c. pandering to right-wing
Republicans who as usual have no intention of reciprocating or acting like anything except right-wing Republicans, or d. a stupid move by a president who is again squandering an opportunity for real change. Go here to tell the White House that
enforcement and criminalization are not reform.
