Carefully choreographed musical protesters halted a
performance by the Jerusalem Quartet, classical musicians viewed as
cultural ambassadors for Israel, leading to an onstage debate of Israeli
occupation policies and the abandoning of a BBC recording of the
concert. The protesters cited the Quartet's strong links to the
Israeli Army, the illegal occupation, new settlements in East Jerusalem,
and the blockade of Gaza.
"Jerusalem is occupied/ Settlers destroy her peace./ We'll
sing out, until apartheid/ And ethnic cleansing cease.'" - Sung to the
tune of 'The Holy City'
