God Can't Be Too Crazy About You, Either, If (S)He's Paying Any Attention

The logic of this appalling story escapes us. A young Marine, Lance Corporal Matthew Snyder of
Finksburg, Md., is killed in Iraq. At the funeral, the hate-filled creeps from Westboro Baptist so-called Church show up to protest – what, exactly? – arguing that God is punishing soldiers for the sin of homosexuality. Snyder's bereaved father sues the creeps. Now a court has ruled that he must pay $16,510 for the creeps' appeal. Come again? The only good to come of this: the Supreme Court has agreed to consider if the creeps are protected by the First Amendment. Go here to help with Snyder's legal costs, which he is struggling to pay.
