Bush's Brain, Such As It Is

It's wrong, I know. It violates every principle of every religion or
philosophy. It has proven itself over time to be grievously
counter-productive: Violence begets more violence. Still. To hear Karl
Rove, peddling the insidious pack of lies that is his new book, say that he's "proud" of waterboarding makes us wish for Karl Rove to undergo a little  waterboarding. (Maybe throw Cheney in as well. Just desserts and all.)

"I'm proud that we used techniques that broke the will of these
terrorists...I'm proud that we kept the world safer than it was, by the use of these
techniques. They're appropriate, they're in conformity with our
international requirements and with US law."

This is the world we live in. This is the world we cover.

Because of people like you, another world is possible. There are many battles to be won, but we will battle them together—all of us. Common Dreams is not your normal news site. We don't survive on clicks. We don't want advertising dollars. We want the world to be a better place. But we can't do it alone. It doesn't work that way. We need you. If you can help today—because every gift of every size matters—please do. Without Your Support We Simply Don't Exist.
