Terrorist-Proof SUVs

Last week the Center for Investigative Reporting and Center for Public
Integrity released a painstakingly researched, state-by-state report
on how billions in federal funds have been spent - or misspent - in the
name of homeland security. Among their findings: In Colorado, a $54,000
trailer went unused for four years and a $1 million check sat for
months in a malibox; Louisiana spent $1.4 million on dozens of new
SUVs; and DC spent $4.6 million on a media blitz to tell people to get ready for anything – except, maybe, how to sensibly account for the $4.6 million.
