Charging the Obama administration with "political bankruptcy" for
its failure to close Guantanamo and break fully with Bush-era detainee
policies, Witness Against Torture is marking the 8th year of torture,
abuse and detention at Guantanamo with a fast and daily vigil from Jan. 11 to Jan.
22 - the day Obama said Gitmo would close. Over 30 activist groups will join the action.

"This is me following through ... on
an understanding that dates back to our founding fathers, that we are
willing to observe core standards of conduct not just when it's easy
but also when it's hard." - President Obama on Jan. 22, 2009, after signing an executive order to close Gitmo.
