We Are Hardly Passive Observers of History.

Arguing passionately for the need for transparency to save ourselves, 29 activist groups have sent President Obama a letter urging him to investigate senior Bush officials who sanctioned torture. The groups, ranging from Code Pink to Center for Constitutional Rights to religious groups, accused Obama of violating international law by suppressing the release of torture photos, a move supported this week by the Supreme Court.

"Your actions ... indicate a troubling willingness to sweep torture
under the rug, rather than openly address our nation’s regrettable
recent history."
