Too High A Cost, At Every Conceivable Level

The news gets darker, the chorus grows louder. As four more Americans were killed in Afghanistan over the weekend, the chairman of the House Appropriations Committee said he opposes
sending more U.S. troops there. And if they do, we need a "war surtax" to
pay for it, said Wisconsin Rep. David Obey, echoing an earlier call for
rich people to pay for the insanity. A coalition of peace groups has
declared today National Call-In Day to protest escalation: Call now.

"There ain't going to be no money for nothing if we pour it all into
Afghanistan," said David Obey. "If they ask for an increased troop commitment
in Afghanistan, I am going to ask them to pay for it."
