To Each According to His or Her Need. Or Not.

Last year, Bruce Wasserstein, CEO of Lazard Ltd. Financial Services
Securities, made $133,708,650 - almost $134 million - or roughly 436
times the salary of the average worker. In general, CEO pay rose 486%,
economic collapse or no. This month, Maine Public Radio's fundraising
drive is called Feed Your Radio; Feed A Family, whereby every donation
to MPBN is matched by one to the Good Shepherd Food Bank, which
provides over a million meals a month to 73,000 people. More than 40%
of Maine kids "show some evidence of hunger." What is wrong with this
picture? It's great 5,000 people turned up in Chicago to protest Wall
Street excess. It's remarkable that five million people didn't. To see
a slideshow from Chicago go here. To help feed a Maine family go here.
