Mr. Al-Jazeera Goes to Washington


Weeks after a deal with U.S. cable distributors making it available to U.S. viewers, the director of the Arab network al-Jazeera, Wadah Khanfar, is visiting Washington. In a speech, Khanfar said media can "play a role in bridging the divide" between the U.S. and the Arab world.

"Al-Jazeera is not anti-American," he said. "Al-Jazeera was started in a Western model. We embraced
freedom of expression, and these are American values."
