We Were There On Those Railroads, Farm Fields, Plantations and Assembly Lines Too. Weren't We?

The ever-racist Pat Buchanan outdid himself last night while debating Rachel Maddow on affirmative action, Sonia Sotomayor and why we don't need no brown-skinned people here, thanks. In response to Maddow's note that 108 of 110 Supreme Court judges have been white:

“White men were 100% of the people that wrote the
Constitution, 100% of the people that signed the Declaration of
Independence, 100% of the people who died at Gettysburg and Vicksburg...This has been a country built basically by white folks."

This is the world we live in. This is the world we cover.

Because of people like you, another world is possible. There are many battles to be won, but we will battle them together—all of us. Common Dreams is not your normal news site. We don't survive on clicks. We don't want advertising dollars. We want the world to be a better place. But we can't do it alone. It doesn't work that way. We need you. If you can help today—because every gift of every size matters—please do. Without Your Support We Simply Don't Exist.
