Chopper Frenzy

When San Diego Sheriff's deputies broke up a fundraiser for Congressional
candidate Francine Busby a couple of weeks back, they felt obliged to call in back-up in the form of six patrol cars, a police dog, pepper-spray-and-handcuff-wielding officers, and a helicopter – all to face down a rowdy handful of mostly female, middle-aged Democratic donors. Gay-rights groups have blasted the response to an apparent noise complaint from an anti-gay heckler as excessive. But not surprising, judging from the Sheriff's Dept. website. The the gung-ho members of the Aerial Support Unit were probably some happy to use some of their cool stuff.
