 Senator Al Franken of Minnesota being sworn in on Tuesday by Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. in Washington.

Al Franken was sworn in today as senator from Minnesota after a post-election saga that read like a Saturday Night Live skit. The sober Franken reportedly offered many hugs, but no jokes. He even shook hands, straight-faced, with GOP Sen. James Inhofe, who recently called him a clown.
