Grief to Hope

Izzeldin Abuelaish, learning of his daughters' death

Izzeldin Abuelaish – Palestinian doctor, friend to Israeli colleagues,
Harvard-trained son of a laborer who grew up in Gaza's largest refugee
camp, widower and once father to eight, now five – is, somehow, not
bitter. Having lost three daughters to the Israeli invasion of Gaza, today he is fundraising
for a
Gazan scholarship fund and an Israeli hospital, and preaching

"Hate and revenge is a disease," he says.
