Heroic Shoes

Muntadar al-Zaidi, the Iraqi journalist who hurled his shoes at then-President Bush at a press conference, has had his prison sentence reduced from three years to one year. Zaidi called Bush "a dog" and threw the shoes, a traditional Arab insult, as a "farewell kiss" from the victims of the US invasion. A new opinion poll finds that 62% of Iraqis consider him a hero. So do we.
