Help Ban the Use of Cluster Bombs

Today is the national call-in day (1-800-590-6313) for the Cluster Munitions Civilian Protection Act, S. 416, which would help prevent the use of cluster bombs.

Our friends at the US Campaign to Ban Landmines and Cluster Bombs remind us that though the U.S. has banned the export of U.S.-made cluster bombs, it still hasn't signed on to the international treaty banning the use of cluster bombs.

Sadly, these horrible weapons have been used in recent conflicts -- Afghanistan, Iraq, Lebanon... the list goes on. Their deadly impact remains for years. Left unexploded, they essentially become landmines, maiming or killing anyone or anything that steps upon them.

Please take a moment to call your senators. You can find out if one or both of your senators is already a co-sponsor here.
