A Report from inside Jabalya Refugee Camp, Gaza

It is very horrible here. Today was the worst. There were lots of F-16s above us and white phosphorous falling from the sky.
I didn't sleep last night. The sound of shelling in the north and east kept us all awake.
Most
of the time we don't have any electricity in my house. So when the
power comes for an hour or two the whole family is busy. We charge our
mobiles, pump water, bake bread. But I have seen so many horrible
things on TV that sometimes I wish we could stay without power.
So far, my own family is okay but I feel shy to speak about my
family. I don't think like that. Everyone in Gaza is my family. We are
suffering collectively as we are being punished and forgotten
collectively, and we are dying.
It is very dangerous here and everywhere in Gaza. By 5 PM the
streets are empty. Not even one person goes out of their homes in my
area. But even in our homes, we are not safe. I swear sometimes I can
smell death around us.
It is not true to say this is a war between Hamas and Israel. I am
an eyewitness in Gaza and though you may think that Gaza is a country
and Hamas is a great and powerful army, these are lies. The Palestinian
factions do not own tanks, warplanes, or warships. They have homemade
rockets, simple weapons. They cannot do anything against Israel's great
and powerful army.
We are living under complete siege with daily killings and our
houses destroyed. Hamas and other Palestinian factions are trying to
defend Palestinians from the continuing massacres, invasions, and
airstrikes. The Israeli occupation and actions in Gaza are terrorist actions,
as are many of their actions and policies dating back to their ethnic
cleansing campaign in 1948.
But I think this, right now, is the
worst catastrophe I will see in my life.
I don't have any guns or weapons. I struggle by simply telling the
truth. Many people have asked me if there is a way to send money or
food. But what we really need is our freedom and an end to the fire.
Don't
keep silent about the Israeli massacres and Holocaust against
Palestinians. The demand for an end to this siege must be louder than
the bombs that rain down upon us.

As a commentator who identifies himself as a Jew, pointed out a day or so ago, the actions of the government of Israel are fomenting hatred of Jews world wide: Jews innocent of the war crimes against the Palestinians, Jews that abhor the crimes being committed by the Israeli government, Jews that are protesting mightily against Israel's war crimes.
At the end of WWII world sympathy for Jewish people was at its apex, after 911 world sympathy for the people of the US was at its apex. The greedy, murderous bastards that run the Israeli government have destroyed the sympathy and good will Jewish people once enjoyed because of WWII and the greedy, murderous bastards that run the US government have destroyed the sympathy and good will Americans once enjoyed because of 911.
What the US government has done to tarnish the image of Americans is little more than an annoyance to most Americans, but the damage to the image of innocent Jewish people brought on by Israel is the most horrendous thing that has happened to Jewish people since the Holocaust.
Innocent Palestinians are suffering horribly because of the Zionist government of Israel, and innocent Jews around the world may suffer in the future from discrimination, prejudice, and bigotry and possibly worse for decades, perhaps centuries for what Zionist Israel is doing.

ADVOCATE: Excellent assessment of the bigger picture. However, as for the "stupidity" being associated with several posters, I prefer to think of it as raw emotion. Yes, raw emotion can be dangerous and appear thoughtless, but I think in the instance of these individuals the pain they feel is great, and their sense of powerlessness makes them angry so they want to lash out at some target. If only we could all understand that we share the common baptism of pain, our own and that of others, and there could be something quite beautiful in coming to this realization. Out of it instead of casting about for blame, who's right and who's wrong, and the endless conflicts these mazes of the ego lead to... we all have to turn against war, weapons, and the killing fields and learn to HONOR the life given to each of us. If the "lowly" sorts came to this realization, they would be able to overturn those elites who fashion policy and economics precisely TO turn person on person so that the fundamental dynamics that lead to so much pain and misery remain intact. Time for a different paradigm, and it can only happen as we stop emotionally feeding the one that is... killing us all, slowly if surely.

Your feedback loop will take you to endless cause/effect rationalizations, too. There is no way out. I would like to see justice, who wouldn't? I realize there are land, economic, political and religious factors at play. The over-riding higher truth is that conflicts do not produce winners and losers. I am working towards a world where the very concept of conflict is no longer one the majority resonate with or act upon. It is not a notion that can take place instantly. Some resent that I bring the knowledge of the law of karma to bear on the Bush administration (it's an equal opportunity employer, so Israeli aggression is hardly exempt). The point is that WHEN human justice fails, there are higher forces at work.
I don't disagree with your points for the most part. I just don't see the assigning of blame on cause and effect immediate levels as producing any change in the cycles of violence. (You presume everyone can think as deeply as you do. And I think you place a greater stock in intellect than the soul/spirit. It would be great if the two zones were held in balance. However, since most are locked into logic and the plane of lower mind, I'll continue to be a voice for a different perspective and angle of understanding.)
By the way on your point about us NEEDING to be VERY ANGRY, anger feeds Mars, and this planet is incensed with enough of it. Maybe empathy for the pain on BOTH sides, and for the ignorance that leads to greed and conflict would be a better rallying point.

My great great grandparents recorded these same kinds of massacres that occurred out here on the reservations similar to what Palestinians go through as they witnessed them and noted them from others in other reservations all through the state. Like Oklahoma, like Gaza ! Sure, the settlers didn't have the kind of modern weaponry Israel gets so easy from the USA but when muggers have the support of the government against the natives, the natives are forced into a lose-lose scenario !

Do not spend your money on anything made in Israel. There are many false boycotts out there, but I have confirmed the following:
- Instead of buying Intel, purchase AMD. Intel is made in Israel, AMD is made in Dresden. Plus, AMD is much faster and more reliable according to PC Mag.
- Boycott these hotels, these are all Israeli hotels: Adam's Mark Hotel in downtown, Hilton St. Louis Frontenac, Radisson Hotel Clayton, Ritz Carlton, Sheraton Clayton Plaza.
Would be nice to fax and let them know of the boycott.
- Starbucks, although does not officially support Israel, New York Times reports that its CEO is a known Israeli supporter. Boycott Starbucks, it's too expensive anyway!
- Look for the tag, anything made in Israel do not buy. For example, Stafford Suits at JCP is made in Israel. Macy's, Bloomindale's and Saks also carry made-in-Israel products including Kalvin Klein.
- Stride Rite by Laurie's in Galleria and Midrivers Mall is all made in Israel junk.
- Dead Sea Premier - it's a scam to begin with...they try to sell you salt at high prices claiming that it is healing and all that nonsense. They are in Chesterfield Mall and West County Mall. It's all made in Israel.
