Israeli Peace Group Say Stop the Bombing
This war is inhuman, superfluous and harmful. Nothing good for Israel will come out of it!
The killing of hundreds of Palestinians and the destruction of the infrastructure of life in the Gaza Strip are abominable acts. Those who hope to reap electoral profits from them are greatly mistaken.
A ground invasion will cause even greater harm, destroy what is left in Gaza and cause many casualties - Israelis and Palestinians, soldiers and civilians.
If, after hard battles, the Israeli army will succeed in conquering the ruins of Gaza, the result will be, at most, to drive Hamas underground and to increase their influence both in the Gaza Strip and in the West Bank.
The attack, which has already deepened the hatred, will
AROUSE the whole civilized world against us,
RAISE all over the region a new generation that will hate the State of Israel even more,
INCREASE the impact of Hamas,
UNDERMINE even more the status of peace-seeking Palestinians,
PREVENT Palestinian unity, without which there can be no peace.
On behalf of thousands of Israelis who have demonstrated in the streets of Tel-Aviv within hours after the start of the war, we demand:
- To stop at once the attack on Gaza!
- To propose - and to maintain - a cease-fire that will include the end off all violent actions by both sides, a real opening of the border crossings and the termination of the blockade against the population of the Gaza Strip.
- To start a dialogue with Hamas. Hamas is an integral part of Palestinian society and the Palestinian political system. Without their participation, all negotiations and agreements are meaningless.

Now what do all of you "Jew" haters have to say?
Stop showing your bigotry. Jews aren't the problem; wrong government policy of the USA, Israel and Ham mas are the problem."
WRONG; Hamas is NOT the problem at all. Hamas only exists, came to be formed, and continues to exist because of the extreme, total criminality of Israel, the U.S., ... against Palestinians and their state. And Hamas was fully democratically elected, and if you disagree with democracy, then you shouldn't be living in a state that officially is a democracy!

Are these peace groups also aware of the enabling of the warmongering zionists by Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan somewhat, and Europe in addition to the US?"
Gush Shalom is not 'groups', but [a] group or organisation, and YES, GS does most surely realise the duplicity of Arab and Muslim state leaders who are and have been acting complicitly with Israel, the U.S., and European governments.
What other Jewish groups or organisations realise, versus not, is not relevant in this page, given the article is only by Gush Shalom, the demands it is presenting, while wanting all Jews, perhaps especially Israeli Jews, to support these demands; while preceding this part of the article with a set of what I guess are pragmatic reasons for opposing the Israeli attack, to say the least of what it is, against Gazans.
I think readytotransform is very right about Uri Avnery, whom I disagree with on one or more related topics, but which are not related to whether or not he is aware of the duplicity of leaders of Arab and Muslim states, which I believe he's surely aware of.
And it's an important issue, but really secondary, for it's Israel and the U.S. that constitute the primary issue; if not for the U.S.A.'s role in all of this, then the leaders of Arab and Muslim states complicit in all of this would NOT be complicit in this, for the problem would then not even exist. They're complicit mainly or solely out of fear of the U.S., and, I suppose, a thirst for power, which the U.S. permits criminally allied state leaders to have, to some degree, whatever amount, and in whatever terms or ways, is deemed permissible by the ruling elites of the U.S. government.
They should all face prosecutions, for they're all guilty; but it's not equally.

Since Uri Avnery is one of the founders of Gush Shalom (85 years old and as active as ever) and is an internationally known activist and journalist, i would guess that members of Gush Shalom and others like them are quite sophisticated about global politics and their implications. Perhaps even moreso than many americans, hard as it is to concieve of....
Well he'd better pass on what he knows because whoever run these peace groups are going to have to come to grips with ALL of the culprits and not just select. Look, I'm not condoning the US and Israel but there are other equally guilty partners not being discussed and until they're reigned in, Israel will remain a superbully and I am sick and tired of mounting tragedies.

Lack of information and not being curious or diligent enough to find it leads to opinions which have little basis in fact. Bigotry frequently becomes the nasty off-spring, especially depending on how one is brought up and what one hears growing up and also where one lives. Also a huge problem exists with our own legislators and officials. They don't do their homework; their knowledge [and sometimes their intellectual ability and capacity] is limited, and when legislative bills or such things as The Patriot Act of NAFTA are up for passage, they do not read what they have already decided to vote for.
There are so many Jewish groups in America, in Europe, in the Mid-east, including in Israel obviously, whose positions are against the policies and practices of the Zionist government of Israel vis-a-vis the Palestinians. They range from giving direct aid to the Palestinian people to trying to educate others to using the legal and political systems to bring about change. And there are also many non-Jewish groups doing the same and trying to help heal the Israeli-Palestinian situation.
In my experience, rarely is anything black and white other than a chess board and a newspaper.
Before Anne Frank and her family were captured and sent to Auschwitz, she wrote often in her diary. What a remarkable heart. A Jewish girl, but a human-being first.
We all need to be human beings first, and curious human beings so we do not condemn or praise in an all or nothing way. To form an opinion; to make a decision, we need to really know what we are talking about, and then choose what we do on a moral and ethical basis. Listening to Obama on certain issues, such as the I-P situation, I think he needs to read some history himself on this, assuming ... still ... he is an ethical, moral man, and not just a selectively opportunistic person. Hope not to the latter.
Gifts from Anne Frank:
"Everyone has inside of him a piece of good news.
The good news is that you don't know how great you can be!
How much you can love! What you can accomplish!
And what your potential is!"
"How true Daddy's words were when he said:
all children must look after their own upbringing.
Parents can only give good advice or put them on the right paths,
but the final forming of a person's character lies in their own hands."
"How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment
before starting to improve the world."
"I don't think of all the misery but of the beauty that still remains."
"Despite everything, I believe that people are really good at heart."
