Show AllThis is what should be reported more often: concentrate on Israel's very obvious discriminatory policies against any non-Jew residing in their 'state'. This point is rarely touched yet makes the strongest argument against their many justifications and excuses for legitimacy. It destroys any case made about their being the only democratic nation in the ME, and it clearly exposes their [i.e. Zionist nationalists only] self-important attitudes and undisguised contempt for all outside their tribe.
I've never once heard a committed Zionist express solidarity with or acknowledge as worthy equals endangered people in other parts of the world; for them, nothing else matters but their own story.
I'd agree with you on every point but the one on legitimacy. Israel is there; it exists; no country's legitimacy is challenged - look at what happened to Yugoslavia: all those mini-states are legitimate; no one reinvents the political wheel there. And the fear of not having legitimacy recognized is an Isaeli talking point, a distraction from the abuse of the Palestinians, and the non-Jewish citizens, whose legitimacy Israel won't fully recognize.
The national narcissistic xenophobia/ethocentrism/solipsism amounts to an national sociopathy. It is appalling that any state would accept 100's of 1000's of refugees as refugees and have nothing for them once they arrive.
Israel would do well to remember the St. Louis.
I guess this where I part company with many other commenters on here most times: for me the question of legitimacy is, at this time in history especially, assailable for almost every state in the world. As a person born in Canada, I refuse to accept the legitimacy of Canada, for example... many would find that absurd, but the more I examine it (and the First Nations narrative), the more it makes sense to me. Every state (especially the big and influential ones) are tenuous fictions based on an agglomeration of prefectures or territories. They rarely serve the whole population well throughout the land. More than that I won't say as I'm already veering off topic...
It's not clear how to interpret your remarks, though, redballoon, as you seem to be arguing that it would undermine the injustice of this deportation by refering to the matter of Israeli legitimacy. I guess I would counter that I enjoy a certain freedom speaking here, because I am not a career diplomat meeting in four star hotels often and having to be careful what i say... therefore, I feel that attacking its legitimacy as i do here will not go very far (though given the chance to say it to Netanyahu's face, I would definitely do it in an instant!), but I'd like to put it into reader's minds as a meme about ridding ourselves decisively of all cases of systemic injustice by working to destroy the apparatus that goes into all great states everywhere.
Q: What is the structure of a state?
A: Scaffolding holding up more scaffolding
Israel and like minded Zionists actually spend money searching out the Jewish gene. They have so far been looking at white Europeans and not in Yemen or in Ethiopia. It's like the detective looking only where the streetlight is on.
Israel: the state of being a refugee who both creates and deports refugees.
How did those South Sudanese end up in Israel and WHY? The functional countries that provide better opportunities to make a living have illegal immigrants and dysfunctional countries, which cannot feed their people and have no jobs, or have high population growth are the source of those immigrants.
People from US or Canada do NOT generally immigrate into Mexico, Sudan, Somalia, or Pakistan!!! People from overpopulated and dysfunctional societies seek their fortune and new life elsewhere, which is in USA, Canada, Europe, AND ISRAEL! Why are there so many Muslim immigrants from Africa in Mediterranean countries of Europe and they often then migrate North to countries that have very liberal policies of immigration? Muslims are the second religion in Sweden, threatening Swedish Jews with their violent religion of intolerance of Jews. Same in France. While they come for economic reasons, the Muslims immigrants often take advantage of tolerance for their intolerance of the very societies which gave them home. Just look at England and all hatred of the West taught in mosques around the world where they were allowed in.
Why are South Sudanese in Israel and not in North Sudan or Egypt? They are fleeing from hunger caused by the overpopulation and wars and genocide that North Sudanese Mulsim militias promote in the name of Islam. Muslim majority countries are racist (Islam encourages racism, slavery, apartheid, misogyny, pedophilia, polygamy and murder for Allahu Akbar). The slave trade that Muslims did in Africa killed many more blacks that the slave trade by the Whites. Now those blacks are fleeing murder and hunger, and go to Israel where they are able to make a living or somehow survive. Should Israel let the entire Africa move in and destroy what they had built in Israel?
Same thing happened when Jews started coming into Palestine which in the mid 19th century was a wasteland, according to Mark Twain who wrote about it in Innocents Abroad (1869). When Jews made Palestine livable again, Arabs started moving in and wanted to loot what Jews had built. Should Israel have a black Palestinian problem too and Jews again become second hand citizens as they were for 19 centuries? Hell no! One Holocast was enough!
I agree, Gea!
It's utter nonsense expressing disdain for Israel's deportation of a population who has stolen into the country and is damaging it. Israel is a tiny country with a very small population, and in a very short period of historical time has managed to make itself into a democracy -- however flawed -- because war in one form or another is always being waged against it.
Right now virtually every place in the world where there is a critical mass of Muslims, they are genocidally destroying every other religion. The South Sudanese are fleeing to Israel because of ISLAMIC MURDER. Darfurians are dying and fleeing because of ISLAMIC MURDER. Coptic Christians -- the TRUE EGYPTIANS there before Arab/Muslims came and invaded -- ARE BEING ETHNICALLY CLEANSED BY MUSLIMS.
The list of ISLAMIC atrocities against other populations goes on and on and on.
Check out www.TheReligionOfPeace.com. Look down toward the end of the page to see the last 30 days of Islamic terrorism all over the world. There's nothing like it.
Stop blaming Israel for what MUSLIMS are doing to cause others to flee for their lives.
Delusional.
I'm guessing you found this article not as a regular reader but from a google search, looking only for things that fall in with your agenda.
You will never learn. Your mind has been infiltrated.
As usual very few comments on Israeli human rights failings. It is no good to say failure in democratic rights because only zionists are accorded rights there; the others are not even considered 'citizens' and are categorized according to their religions. Israel is a theocracy, a government run by zionists for zionists. That last paragraph by Gea shows complete ignorance about the history of Palestine and what was done so that the zionists could establish their country.
