It's not just that some Jews like Sheldon Adelson have dual loyalties, but there's a whole crap-load of non-Jewish Americans with dual loyalties when it comes to Israel--Gingrich as well as many members of the Senate/House come to mind. In fact, if you take what they say at face value, you'd think some of these people have stronger loyalty to Israel than to their own country.

Here's a "decent" Jewish person's opinion: Israel has a right to exist, but just as they are loath to accept advice/guidance/interference from other countries, they should adhere to their own principles. The USA is not Israel's colony! Let the USAmericans decide whom they want to annoint into their presidency. As for all the donations to Israel from USAmericans (and others in the wide Jewish diaspora), let them do that, why not, but then all official, state funded donations should stop. If we consider directing some official US aid to Israel, the USA should use their leverage to influence Israeli politics, not vice versa.

The propaganda from your printed media is even worse, even respected newspapers with quite long tradition seem to be channels for the politics de jour. Also, it seems to me, that there is no opposition in your country. Some lone voices, some decent whistleblowers here or there, but nothing en masse. I really can't see that the choir is sinking. I feel that something nasty is going to happen soon: either a US-Israeli aggression against Iran and an ensuing chaos, maybe even world war (depending on Russia and China), or some kind of uprising in the US, as your economy is a shambles. I can only speak for myself for sure, but can speculate for other Jews in the diaspora. I have a loyalty to my country, Australia first and foremost. Considering my parentage, I do have a warm and fuzzy thought from time to time directed towards France and Hungary. I'm not in the same category as these billionaire Likudnik/paskudniks, but even if I were, I'd rather spend my money on environmental or humanitarian causes, not to oppress and exploit a whole nation, or to foment and execute various wars. I'm sure though, I'm speaking for a lot of Jews in the diaspora

HI Jim, my Mother's folks were French, my Father's Hungarian. Neither were some bigoted, wild shtetl Jews, but solid members of the bourgeoisie. I have seen pictures of great Grandparents in their finery, which didn't seem to distinguish them from gentiles of the same class. My family were highly educated, mostly doctors and academics, even their women went on to higher education. My Grandparents eventually dabbled in communism (as most intellectuals of the time, especially in Western Europe) and consequently became atheists, but from what I gather, my family was not overly religious anyway, most certainly never kitted out in a bekishe, or such. Thank you for the links provided, I do agree with your Grandma's opinion of zionists being crazy, my family shared the same views. As for the misdeeds of certain zionists: all fanatics are prone to commit mischief/terrorism. Look, I'm not US American, don't really know much about the Kennedy association, although don't believe the official story at all. I visited the blog and it's interesting, but I feel it's been written from a slightly biased view, as it tends to point out the negative treats we have as a culture. I think there could be a blog just as well pointing out ridiculous, contemptible or downright vicious habits of Catholics as a religion or any folk/nation/country. It is a very well researched blog though and so long that I could only skim it, so these are only my first impressions. I'll revisit it again for deeper study, hopefully my first impressions will change. p.s. I'm quite happy that you haven't written anything terrible about French or Hungarian Jews ;-))
