Season's Greetings From the Climate Change Deniers at Fox News
As winter descends, Fox is keeping with its annual tradition of using snowstorms and cold temperatures to mock global warming.
The suggestion that local winter weather somehow disproves global, long-term warming trends is a recurring theme at Fox, despite its faulty logic. During the hot summer months, Fox News' silence on global warming is deafening. But like clockwork, when the snow starts to accumulate so does Fox's climate coverage.
Here are some of the highlights from recent years:
These attempts to downplay the threat of global warming should come as no surprise coming from Fox, which routinely ignores evidence of climate change, but goes out of its way to spread misinformation and hype "scandals" in an attempt to cast doubt on the scientific consensus.
But as meteorologist Jeff Masters explained, "heavy snowstorms are not inconsistent with a warming planet. In fact, as the Earth gets warmer and more moisture gets absorbed into the atmosphere, we are steadily loading the dice in favor of more extreme storms in all seasons."
A 2009 report from the U.S. Global Change Research Program stated that "strong cold season storms are likely to become stronger and more frequent" in the Northeast and upper Midwest as a result of climate change.
So for all of Fox's misguided sarcasm, it's likely that some big snowstorms in the U.S. are, in part, a symptom of a changing climate.

Show AllIf you rely on Fox for news it is unlikely you have the mental capacity to understand science at all.
Most of their viewers haven't even come to grips with evolution, for christ sake.
Calling fox news is so much of a stretch.
If you ever wondered if oil was bigger than thought, I give you the talking parrots at Fox. Big oil tells them what to say, and they say it, Does Polly wanna cracker?
I had thought that the enlightenment of the eighteenth century had moved us from superstition and intolerance and toward science and reason, but apparently only some of us.
Sometimes I feel like i'm living in the dark ages..
fox can really drill a message into someones head...
maybe it would do more good as you say if we all?how many that is i haven't a guess, voted for rocky anderson and he won! maybe nothing but having any light seems to help.one day thou it may become UGLY
Are they "imbeciles" or what??
Idiots.
Their breathtakingly colossal stupidity is probably going to end up taking us all down with them.
Maybe at Fox News they're consulting "The Farmer's Almanac"? Or they use a Ouija Board? Throwing bones? Besides, we can always pray our way out of any mess. Right?
I loved Freewheelin', Phineas and Fat Freddie and his cat . I sure miss the days of free love , sex, drugs and rock 'n roll. They were a shitload better than now.
It's not the lack of logic or common-sense that irks me about these Fox 'News' pricks; it's their self-righteous, arrogant, smart-ass, condescending attitude. These are the same assholes who felt like big-shots in tenth grade because they were able to bully ninth graders. In short, it's impossible for mature adults to take them seriously, but their self-righteous, arrogant, smart-ass tenth-grade friends sure think they're hot shit. And they buy their books.
You worry unnecessarily. FOX is only one voice presenting an alternate point of view. In favor of the majority position of man-made global warming. you've got all the mainstream press and the major networks. So relax, enjoy the winter season, ignore FOX, and it will go away.
it is far and away the most popular network in America. To a large extent, what Faux says, Americans believe. You already know this, of course.
(yeah, you were going to fool us with that 'nothing to see here, folks. Move it along' routine.)
Though the most dangerous country in the world, the United States is passé. We just don't know it yet.
It is interesting that the U.S. is the only country in which large groups of people vociferously reject global warming. And evolution, of course, is rejected by the same kinds of people that cannot stomach the data on climate change. It apears that the Cassandras who claimed back in the 1950s that television had the potential to destroy the intelligence of the public were right.
