Show AllThirty years after Ronny Raygun helped Americans believe in themselves, Americans are starting to realize that if they really believe in themselves they need to take responsibility for governing or they will continue to be controlled by corporations.
The Koch brothers tea party, fox news, blaw, blaw ,blaw, the republican dirty bastards have brought this on, tax the rich, Dah, put it back to the rate that worked. I keep hearing that this is not democrat or republican, O K, then why is Canter and mcConnell saying this is just a mob, they didn't say that when the tea party had signs of Obama as a witch doctor, or spiting on democrat law makers on the steps of our capital, the police did not beat the tea party, blood shed and extreme bully, abuse of power, beat these liberal bastards, my night stick will be busy tonight, what fun, beat the bleeding heart liberals! Go ahead and vote republican, kick yourself the nuts!
Viva la revolutione!

The myths of American greatness, justice, fairness and benevolence explode in the face of the harsh economic realities so many of us face today. Yet, many still need to wake up to the truth - our political system is and has been broken . . . and Obama has nothing to do with the real changes that are coming - finally.
When the corporate created and sponsored "Tea Party" put a few hundred bored, racist middle aged rednecks on a few street corners the media fell all over themselves to cover it,proclaiming them to be this massive grassroots movement they were never even close to being. Now here we are,a real massive popular uprising in every major city in the US,and we get either ignored or ridiculed. What does that tell you? And as far as the President goes, the moment he took the Wall Street criminals and instead of prosecuting them made them his cabinet,I realized I was duped.
We the 99% want all the advantages socialism, capitalism, anarchy, etc. without any of their disadvantages. One demand:
Decentralized direct democracy.
No politicians, no corruption!
http://ni4d.us/
They want a new deal.....
"One demand:
Decentralized direct democracy."
That means you do something directly. As in, YOU, personally, do, something, directly. No one else. Not me. Not the folks in New York. Certainly, not the politicians, but you.
Now, the question is (since you brought up decentralized direct democracy), what does that mean to you? And how will you do it?
I'm not trying to put you on the spot (well, just a little), I'm trying to open up a dialog as to just what the hell decentralized direct democracy means to us?
To me, it means hitting the system the only place it hurts: in the wallet. Withhold as much of our capital (human and paper) from the capitalist system, and it will feel it big time.
You?
Ted, I believe we need to be represented; currently we are not being represented, as the reps are elected by 750,000 people, on average. Each rep has a massive set of staff, or if they do not, they depend on lobbyists for their information. This system needs to change. What if we had reps for every 100,000 people and the reps did not have to campaign every two years, did not have massive staffs, but actually worked. What if the State legislatures elected their Senators, as they did 100 years ago. We would pay more attention to local / state issues, wouldn't we. The people need to become more involved and change the government in a way that will serve all of us.
"The people need to become more involved and change the government in a way that will serve all of us."
How? When big money pays to get air time and the 750,000 people who vote for the politicians wash their hands after that, how will the people change the government?
I'm sorry, but I've been hearing this same thing for a long, long time. Not that I don't believe it once in a while, just that I sure don't see any proof that this has, nor will, happen.
Occupy Wall Street is a reaction, and a valid reaction to the gross injustices that have been brought down on us, but can it really affect change? If the system pays attention to them, what then? What lasting effect will this have on the system? Maybe we should ask the native Americans who signed treaty after treaty in good faith with the government. What happened to that good faith?
What is the problem in this country? Who is pulling the strings? What is the life-blood of the system? And who provides the blood?
We desperately need to start asking different questions because we sure as hell won't get different answers from the same questions.
How about this question: What is the life-blood in a capitalist system?
Direct democracy to me means that the people make the laws:
http://ni4d.us/
What you're talking about is a complete dissolution of our constitution which states that we are (supposed to be) a representative republic. Having seen the great dumbing down process that has happened in this country, I'm not sure I want the people making laws.
What I want are representatives who are representatives, not whores. But how can one persuade a whore to stop whoring? After all, the money is so good.
Ah, money. Gee, it all seems to come back to money in this country.
What can we do about that?
Do the protesters want Capitalism or not?
Should we break up Fidelity and all the Mutual funds?
That's a silly question, isn't it? How do we begin to break up Fidelity and all the mutual funds. What tools do we, the 99%, have to even try doing that? And if not us, who do you think would ever be interested in doing that?
You are asking us to contemplate doing something that we don't have the tools to do. The only thing we have the tools to do is to use our energy and money to disrupt the system. If we choose to use those tools, the system will have to change. It will have to.
Deny the brain of blood, and it will change. As will everything else.
Bring flowers for the cops !
Everybody on Planet Earth is Important. By "everybody," I mean everyone including and beyond humanity, which constitutes a mere 1% or less of all earthlings.
Everyone beyond humanity -- they are the 99 %. They may not be "human," but their lives count for something, too, their lives matter. They are the 99 %.
